Why Switzerland?

Here a few reasons why:

• Tax benefits - new companies can be awarded a break on all product sales for a number of years.
• Low Corporate tax and Profit can be placed in Switzerland.
• Great supply of very capable people, both in many aspects of business and of course in language skills. (Switzerland has four official languages and English.).
• Can get work permits for foreigners, especially EU citizens.
• Significantly lower company costs.

Why to NOT setup a HQ in the UK?

• Difficulty of the infrastructure, ever experienced the traffic in an around London?
• Not recognized by Europeans as being a European HQ, especially true of the major countries. Also the majority of the British remain Europe sceptics, just ask Tony Blair. (He has had to delay British participation in the Euro a couple of times.)
• British view of "Europe" is that they are largely separate and distinct. (Remember the quote "Fog in the channel, Europe cutoff" which was once a headline in the "Times")
• Although the language of business is English, by moving only half way, to the UK, your company may not be subjected to the issues of doing business internationally very quickly if your people only have to deal with native English speakers.
